While we are blessed to be able to provide excellent teachers with an abundance of knowledge in their subjects and a love for teaching and students, we are here to work cooperatively with families regarding academics, arts, and activities. We are thankful we share a common goal of seeking the best education for your student and that we will be able to work together to accomplish this!
Emily Chernick began homeschooling her children almost two decades ago. Even before she heard of Charlotte Mason, she had a great love for literature, and she began reading books aloud to her children from the very beginning. She not only read picture books, but beautiful literary classics she had never encountered. It was eye-opening that a child of eight could recall so many details of the characters and events through a book. With that, her homeschooling journey began not only with her own children but also working with one of the valleys earliest Christian academy's. Wherever you are in your educational journey rather you have been homeschooling, thinking about it, and or in public school, Charlotte Mason of the Roanoke Valley was created to work with a child's individual needs and talents. We have the desire to come alongside parents and children in our community, to help them implement a Charlotte Mason based education where children are encouraged to develop life-long habits so they may become critical thinkers and leaders for future generations, and above all, spread the Gospel of Christ, so that each family and child is equipped with the armor of God.

As Charlotte Mason of the Roanoke Valley, we believe:
The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, and the supreme and final authority for all of faith and life.
There is one God, eternally existent in the three Persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, in six literal days.
Man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost and under God’s wrath and just condemnation.
In the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, who came as God in human flesh, being fully God and fully man, except without sin.
In the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His miracles, His atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and His imminent bodily return in power and glory.
Jesus Christ paid the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death, the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection.
God, by His grace, offers salvation as a free gift to the sinner to be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.
